GO Transit and TTC Line 2 Service Disruptions This Weekend

If you plan to use public transit this weekend, commuters should plan ahead due to several planned service disruptions affecting both TTC Line 2 and GO Transit's Lakeshore West line CP24.

What Happened: TTC Line 2 Closures

On Saturday, TTC Line 2 will have no subway service between Kipling and Jane stations because of planned infrastructure work, according to the TTC CP24. The TTC stated that while most subway maintenance occurs at the end of service nightly, early nightly and weekend closures are still required to complete state-of-good-repair work. On Sunday, the Line 2 closure extends between Kipling and Keele stations, and subway trains will be replaced by shuttle buses. Additionally, Runnymede and High Park stations will be closed on Sunday, though all other subway stations will remain open for fare purchases CP24. Regular subway service is scheduled to resume on Monday at 6 a.m.

What Happened: GO Transit Lakeshore West Disruptions

Planned construction is causing no train service on the Lakeshore West line between Aldershot GO and Union Station this weekend CP24. GO Transit reported that this modification to service is necessary to conduct important construction work and maintenance aimed at supporting faster, more frequent service on the Lakeshore West line CP24. CityNews Toronto confirms there will be no GO train service between Aldershot GO and Union Station on both Saturday and Sunday CityNews Toronto.

What This Means for Commuters

For GO Transit, trains will operate between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO stations, while GO buses will run between West Harbour GO and Union Station Bus Terminal, omitting stops at Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch, Mimico, or Exhibition GO CP24. CityNews Toronto advises that travelers involving the Lakeshore West line should adjust weekend plans or travel routes, especially when traveling to or from downtown Toronto CityNews Toronto.
